It’s here!

The yarn has arrived. Not the colors I would pick on my own, but I can see already why the Wollmeise is so popular. It is soft and feels strong at the same time. I could really just hold this stuff in my hands all day. It even smells good… not the way wool normally smells. The colors are beautiful, but hard to see in my pictures. I had to actually hold it up to the morning sunlight in order to get a decent picture of the burgandy hue (see below).

I think I already know what pattern I will be using for the Wollmeise.

Not sure about the other yarn though… it is kind of an orange red and brown.

Thanks Loopy Ewe! What a great surprise!

The PMS cure

Yesterday I was on the verge of wanting to strangle any unsuspecting passerby who dared look at me the wrong way and couldn’t figure out why was I so angry for no reason lately. It doesn’t happen every month, but when it does… it takes a little while for me to figure out what is going on. The day was a struggle and it ended with some wine to cut the edge. The next morning wasn’t much better and a hangover to top it off. Then I read my email and everything was right again.

I actually won something! And not just any old prize. I won yarn. Quite possibly the best PMS cure…ever. How can one be angry when there is great yarn on the way. I’m so excited. I can barely stand it.

I commented on the Loopy Ewe blog to wish them a happy anniversary and I was picked to win a little anniversary package. And you are never going to believe what is in the package. Wollmeise yarn. This is the stuff that I have been wanting to try since I got into sock yarn… (ok, so it has only been about 6 months). But this stuff has a reputation of being some of the best and is nearly impossible to get a hold of. It has been sold out as long as I have known about it.

I’ll post some pics when it arrives!

The Perfect Day

At the end of the day you feel content and at peace…that there was no other way you wished you had spent the day.

For me, it usually involves a day of climbing because I really like being outside and I like feeling physically tired at the end of the day… call me crazy, but I sleep much better! Climbing is similar to knitting in a lot of ways. There is a mental challenge, a physical activity, a sense of accomplishment, and a focus required. So, lately the perfect day has been to go to a local crag (climbing area) with a group of people and do some climbing and then knit a little bit between climbs. Yes, my friends think it is a little strange, but it is very relaxing and peaceful to be knitting outside. Besides, if you climb with a group you have to wait your turn and what better way to wait?

Now if only there was a climbing wall in the yarn shop….
